God's Strength
I woke up today feeling anxious and i didn't know wat to expect. My legs were shaking from the cold. Today was the day that the year 7s had their House Cross Country. I love running, its so fun to be able to freely run around and enjoy myself, or maybe some competitive running like Athletics or cross country. But this was the first year of high school for me. Everything was new, and i didn't know if i was capable of running 3.5 km. I walked to school as usual, the first 4 periods of the day (my school has 6 periods a day) went through smoothly and nothing out of the ordinary happened. But after lunch, me and some of my friends were getting a bit nervous. As we walked down to the Zerbes reserve, my heart was thumping. We sat down on the grass and waited for further instructions. The boys were told to start first, and everyone started heading towards the starting line. Mr. James said: "Take your marks. Set. *BEEP*" Everyone took off at the same time, and a lot of people tripped. Thankfully, I did not trip or stumble, and I kept a steady pace. We ran down the pathway and did a full 180 degree turn at checkpoint 1. We ran up the hill and turn right into the park. We followed the cones around the oval and stepped off onto the road again. As we started to quicken our pace and run through checkpoint 2. beginning start our second lap. I started to get tired and my throat was sore. I kept pushing myself, and I remembered back at camp, how we experienced a tiny bit of what Jesus had experienced and this was similar to that, but it was all physically. I knew that God would give me Strength to finish this race. When i got to checkpoint 3, i began to slow down a bit, as i was fighting for gasps of air. As I started to fall back, I talked to God in my mind. "Heavenly Father, please help me get through this race. Give me the strength and confidence I need to be able to complete this cross country. As crossed the oval for the last time, the calf on my right leg started to ache. But i kept going, all the way, until i reached the finish. I came 18th, and I knew that without God's Strength within me, i wouldn't be able to achieve something as good as this. After school, when I came home, I went into my room and prayed to God. I prayed for a while, with a few pauses, meditating to God. My time with God is always the first priority.
